Privacy

How is my information stored?

Your personal information is handled in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 and stored securely. Paper records are kept in locked storage and electronic records are protected by passwords and appropriate security measures.

How long will you keep my information?

I am an active member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), Membership No. 13535, and the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH).

Hypnotherapy records are normally retained for 8 years after your final session, with longer retention periods applying to clients under 18 in accordance with professional guidance. Coaching records are retained in line with professional, insurance and legal requirements.

Can I ask for my information to be deleted?

Yes. You can request deletion of your personal information, although some records may need to be retained for professional, insurance or legal reasons.

Can I see the information you hold about me?

Yes. You can request a copy of your personal information and I will normally respond within one calendar month.

Why do you collect information?

I collect only the information needed to provide safe and effective coaching and hypnotherapy. This may include contact details, relevant health and wellbeing information, your goals and brief session notes.

I process personal information using an appropriate lawful basis under UK data-protection law, including where necessary to provide the service you have requested, meet legal or professional obligations, or where you have given consent. Health information receives additional protection as special-category data and is only processed where an appropriate lawful condition applies.

Are our sessions confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed is treated as confidential. I may discuss anonymised information with my professional supervisor to support safe and effective professional practice.

Will you share my information?

I will not normally share information with your GP or another professional without your consent.

Trusted service providers may process limited information where necessary to operate my practice, for example booking, email, payment or online meeting services.

Exceptions to Confidentiality

Your information and our discussions are confidential. However, there may be exceptional circumstances where I need to share relevant information, for example if I believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person, there is a safeguarding concern, or I am required to disclose information by law or a valid court order.

Where it is appropriate and safe to do so, I will aim to discuss this with you before any information is shared.

What if I see you outside a session?

I will respect your privacy and will not acknowledge how we know each other unless you choose to acknowledge me first.

If you wish to raise a concern about how your personal information has been handled, please see our Complaints page.
